Brother Zee Jim Belushi Joins The ‘No On Question 8’ Chorus

“Over the last ten years, legal cannabis has had an immense impact on our state and local economies, becoming a billion dollar industry."

We’ve been saying since the start of this whole mess that celebrity muscle will be needed or at least extremely helpful in the battle against Question 8. Local voices are of course critical, especially over the longer term, but the more well-known faces speaking out, the better.

And if they happen to be in the cannabis industry themselves, then they’re only doing what is right. Kind of like Jim Belushi, who has shown up at NECANN in Mass before, sells products here, and now, is getting on the No on 8 train. The following is from Stop the Repeal campaign …

Today, the No on 8: Stop the Repeal Campaign announced the endorsement of performer and founder of Belushi’s Farm, Jim Belushi, adding his support to the growing coalition of regional leaders, public health officials, law enforcement, small business owners and advocates fighting to protect the Commonwealth’s legal cannabis law.

“Over the last ten years, legal cannabis has had an immense impact on our state and local economies, becoming a billion dollar industry. Repealing highly-regulated recreational cannabis will have a deep effect on Massachusetts communities, our state economy, and will strain the medical marijuana industry,” said Stop the Repeal Chairperson Ryan Dominguez. “We are grateful to have the support of Jim Belushi and Belushi’s Farm in helping us to defeat this damaging ballot question and protect communities across the state.”

In the decade since voters made a clear choice to replace restrictive policies with a safe, regulated cannabis market, Massachusetts has built a system that prioritizes public health, consumer safety, responsible regulation and equitable opportunities.

“I created Belushi’s Farm to help people heal through our rigorously tested and all natural cannabis,” said Jim Belushi. “Cannabis can have a way of helping those that may be suffering whether an opiate addict, a veteran with PTSD, a grandmother suffering from cancer, workers battling sleepless nights, anxiety, or hopelessness or parents trying to give their child suffering seizures some relief. Repealing recreational cannabis after it was legalized ten years ago by the people of Massachusetts will have a profound impact on a large group of people who rely on cannabis for pain relief and its medicinal effects.”

Belushi’s Farm began as an artisanal cannabis farm in Oregon, where premium sungrown genetics are cultivated, and today it also serves as a genetics and propagation R&D facility. Across the country, Belushi’s Farm premium genetics are grown by hand-picked partners in each state to ensure dedication to quality and consistency.

“Everybody needs medicine! People have always reached for something to make them feel better. I’m happy more and more people are reaching for cannabis,” said Jim Belushi. “It’s safe. It’s tested. It’s generous and gentle, whether you’re looking for relief from pain, stress, anxiety, sleeplessness and hopelessness, or you just want to feel good for a little while.”

Jim Belushi joins a broad and growing coalition of businesses, advocates, community leaders and voters committed to defeating repeal efforts. You can learn more about efforts to keep regulated recreational marijuana legal in Massachusetts here.
