Full week of events from June 15-21 to follow theme of “social in the city”
Per the City of Boston Cannabis Industry Development Team, its annual Cannabis Empowerment Week first launched in 2023 to “spotlight and explore the evolving cannabis industry through education, storytelling, community engagement, and public programming.”
“Each year, the week focuses on a different aspect of the industry through the lenses of equity, policy, entrepreneurship, social consumption, wellness, hospitality, workforce development, and community impact, while creating opportunities for residents to engage directly with the people and conversations shaping the future of cannabis in Boston.”
“Over the years, Cannabis Empowerment Week has taken many forms, including educational workshops, business spotlights, video campaigns, networking opportunities, industry walkthroughs, public forums, and community-centered events designed to educate, connect, and empower communities across the city.”
And this year, Cannabis Empowerment Week will “explore the future of social consumption and the possibilities of what it can look like in Boston through a weeklong series of interactive, educational, and community-oriented events.”
For the June 15 kickoff event at 26 Court St., a “High Standards” celebration will feature an “informational session explor[ing] Boston’s anticipated municipal planning process, the three new social consumption license types, community impact considerations, and the statewide framework surrounding social consumption.”
“Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from City & State representatives, engage in discussion, ask questions, and learn more about how social consumption could shape hospitality, culture, nightlife, equity, and economic opportunity throughout Boston.”
Other events include “Consuming on Site,” “a live walkthrough exploring what social consumption could look like,” “Fathers in Cannabis,” a “father-led basketball tournament centered on community, connection, wellness, and culture,” and “Juneteenth Elevated.”
For the latter, organizers will bring “Cannabis Empowerment Week into the community as we join the Juneteenth celebration with a cannabis education and engagement tent focused on awareness, conversation, equity, and the future of social consumption in Boston.”
