Loving: Small Batch Peanut Butter Cups By Golden Remedy Medibles

Not every confectionary gem has to come from an OG, but with GRE that is the case

There’s not much about peanut butter cups that I or anybody else can really tell you that you don’t already know. We can have silly debates about brand name versus mom-and-pop chocolatier, but like Bob Odenkirk says under the stress of a polygraph when asked what it’s like to smoke rock: “It’s great. It’s crack. It gets you really high.”

Still, I have some things to say about the truly small-batch Mass adult-use goodie maker Golden Remedy Medibles, or GRE, and in this specific case the company’s Strawnberry PB&J Cups—which also get you really high, depending on how many you munch, and also taste phenomenal. Somewhere in size between a Reese’s Miniature and the real thing, with more relative vertical depth than the latter and a thick shell to rival those made by the most elite Newbury or 57th Street melter, these are primo peanut poppers plain and simple. But there’s more to it …

There’s also that phrase I used—small batch. I don’t obsess over such things or toss it around recklessly. There is plenty that I worship which comes in on freight ships (or at least it used to?). But I also like to give credit where it is due, and I’ve seen this team come up in the scene around New England. I’m not saying that everyone should have to pay underground dues, but we ought to acknowledge the people who did. And in this case that is GRE, which dropped these classic cups in a collaboration with the East Wareham-based Beachgrass Topicals.

Perhaps most importantly, though, is the flavor, effect, and finesse that they are offering at solid prices. I can’t overstate it; I didn’t even plan on printing this, but rather simply picked up a 100mg bag last week, and was so overwhelmed by the super high quality that it moved me to gush. Since this is where readers online often find themselves when they are searching for tips about great bites to buy and which small indie brands to back, I put it in writing.
