‘No On 8’ + ‘Yes On 10’ Weekend Coming Up In Haverhill

On Saturday, Stem is teaming with CNA Stores, Mello, and Full Harvest Moonz the first-ever Haverhill Cannabis Walk followed by local canvassing

Folks, it’s finally about time for the collaborative effort spurred by mobilizing against Question 8 that we told you about a few weeks back. We will be on hand on Saturday to film the festivities and we hope to see you there. The following is from the team at Stem …

Stem in Haverhill is sponsoring a No on 8, Yes on 10 Cannabis Campaign Weekend featuring local participants and former NFL players on Saturday October 17 and Sunday October 18 to rally voters and raise awareness about two crucial cannabis-related ballot questions that will appear before Haverhill voters this November.

Stem Owner Caroline Pineau said the two events are designed to educate voters about the two measures—Question 8, which would overturn legalized cannabis sales and return the state to a prohibition system, and Question 10, which would pave the way for permitting of social consumption sites in Haverhill.

Question 8 is a state-wide ballot question and Question 10 is a Haverhill-only question.

“It’s vital that Haverhill voters are fully educated on the questions before them on November 3 because they will have a dramatic impact on local jobs, city tax revenue and whether the cannabis market is controlled by licensed, responsible operators or by street dealers who don’t check IDs and don’t know or care what’s in the product they sell,” Pineau said.  “It’s also about giving cannabis consumers the same rights and access enjoyed by alcohol users.”

On Saturday, Stem is hosting the first-ever Haverhill Cannabis Walk followed by local canvassing.  Walkers will meet at the Haverhill City Hall steps at 9:30 a.m. and then depart on a  2.1-mile walk through downtown Haverhill, stopping at the proposed Stem social consumption site on Washington Street and ending at the Bradford Common at South Main and Salem streets.  Walkers will then canvas door-to-door to spread the No on 8, Yes on 10 message to Haverhill voters. Walkers can sign up here.  Haverhill cannabis retailers Mello, CNA Stores and Full Harvest Moonz are co-sponsoring the walk.

On Sunday, Stem is hosting former NFL stars Ricky Williams and Kyle Turley for a meet-and-greet and signature signing event at its 124 Washington Street retail store.  The former players will be in Massachusetts to campaign against Question 8. They will start the day at a Gillette Stadium tailgate event.  The Stem event starts at 3:30 p.m.  The public is invited to attend. Attendees must be over 21 and show identification to enter.
