Oh, you’re not a soda drinker? Well you are now.
Long before they came to Massachusetts, some of us were traveling to Maine to score cases of Keef.
And before that, those of us who travel nationally hunting for great weed products have enjoyed their sodas in other markets, namely California and Colorado, where they’re a household name, at least for stoner fams.
And as consummate Mass grass consumers know, for the past few months, Keef has been available from Boston to the Berkshires, and we’re here to tell you that their commonwealth co-packers are crushing it.
First, their Original Cola … It’s excellent, and that’s hard to accomplish. There’s a reason Coke and Pepsi have those recipes locked down and make billions of dollars off that exclusivity, but as far as the rest in class go, Keef does a convincing job. Not too sweet or syrupy but certainly with ample carbonation, if you consider that it gets you high, this is the way to go if you go soda.
Next up is the Blue Razz, which is what all of the 21-plus kids are talking about these days. It truly tastes like cotton candy; think of your favorite blueberry edible melted down and carbonated then delivered in a cloud. If you’re counting, this one is well worth the 130 calories.
The Bubba Kush Root Beer may be our favorite jam of all, especially next to some others we’ve tried in Mass and elsewhere. It’s apparently hard to replicate Mug, Barq’s, and such, but this is one we’re rooting for. And we have similar sentiments about Keef’s Mr. Puffer spin on Dr. Pepper. We did a taste test with the latter and failed as much as we passed, which we think means they are competently comparable.
The dispensary drink shelf is a mess right now. Some brands disappeared when the soda and seltzer selection temporarily shifted to liquor stores, and now that shoppers have to return to dispensaries for their 5mg fixes, it seems that shops are often out of stock, or even stocked up on less-optimal options.
Hopefully Keef, which is increasingly sold statewide, can help resuscitate the low-dose top-shelf liquid market.
