Including an invitation to meet descendants of General Patton at a Haverhill dispensary
Since before the dawn of the medical and adult-use industries here, veterans have been central to Massachusetts cannabis, both in their contributions on the activism side as well as in various green businesses statewide. Among the leaders in this lane, CNA Stores in Haverhill and Amesbury run programs that benefit the Veterans NorthEast Outreach Center (VNEOC), and have a number of vets on staff serving veteran customers who feel especially welcome there.
With Veterans Day coming up on Nov. 11, we encourage Bay State cannabis companies to share info with us to post about everything from discounts to events. For now, our first highlight comes from MariMed, the company behind brands including Nature’s Heritage, Betty’s Eddies, and InHouse. Specifically, the latter’s program, Help on the Homefront, which is “designed to bring awareness to the housing challenges faced by our veterans across the country.” From an InHouse media release:
Through Help on the Homefront, InHouse will provide $5,000 to a veteran in several of its retail markets, including Maryland, Massachusetts, Delaware, and Illinois. The award is intended to offset the financial burden of monthly housing expenses or vital home improvements.
Beginning November 1, eligible veterans 21+ years of age may enter to win online by visiting inhousecannabis.com. Friends and family are also welcome to submit an entry on behalf of a veteran. There is no purchase necessary to participate and winners will be randomly selected and announced after the program concludes on November 30.
Olya Key, the brand director for InHouse at MariMed, said, “Help on the Homefront was created to recognize the many sacrifices that veterans have made on behalf of our country and offer meaningful financial relief to those facing housing-related difficulties. … We hope this program can provide some support to veterans in our communities as a small way of giving back.”
Meet the Pattons of Green Meadows at Mello
Up in Haverhill, “as part of Mello’s Veteran’s Day celebration, the dispensary is welcoming armed forces veterans to meet and greet the grandson and great-grandson of General George S. Patton in-person.” The pop-up will take place on Monday, Nov. 4 in collaboration with Green Meadows Farm. More from the Mello team below:
The story of Green Meadows dates back to 1928, when General George S. Patton, Jr. purchased land in Hamilton, Massachusetts that would become Green Meadows Farm. The General’s grandson, Bob Patton, and his family have established a sustainable, community-focused business at Green Meadows that supports veterans and leads the cannabis industry in environmental and social responsibility. Through Green Meadows, they honor the past, serve the present, and work towards a better future.
The Patton family is also invested in working closely with veterans and runs a charity called Patton Alliance for Veterans. On Nov. 4th, Green Meadows has generously offered to provide a limited batch of cannabis plants that will be given away for free to veterans. These clones can be grown at home into full flowering plants, and Green Meadows will be on-site with information about how to grow and care for them.
