Video: A Conversation On The Threat Of Question 8 And Social Equity

Delivery licensees and industry experts and stakeholders joined us at Thrive in Middleboro

Before the effort to repeal legal cannabis in Massachusetts surfaced, we spent a lot of time touring facilities around the state. From dispensaries to wondrous manufacturing facilities, we documented the growing new industry as it developed from the ground up.

But since the threat of Question 8 became serious, our travels have transformed. For the past year, we’ve spent far less time discovering and learning about new policies and products, and instead have mostly interviewed stakeholders about their careers, passions, and livelihoods—all for the sake of pushing back against the looming referendum.

In this latest round of interviews, we visited the team from MariMed at Thrive in Middleboro. It’s an especially welcoming store with multiple levels and lounge seating, and we used every last corner to hear people make their best “No on 8” pitch. We also discussed the particular concerns for Social Equity licensees.

Thanks to the panelists—Darnisha of Safe-Lyfe LLC, Angel and Sebastian of Little Dog Delivery, and David, an operator, strategic advisor, and occasional Talking Joints Memo contributor. And also thanks to DJ Gasolina and the Thrive crew for bringing the energy.

We will drop a new video from the event on YouTube Shorts every day through the election on Nov. 3, and you can watch on Instagram as well.
