As we have gushed many times before, Massachusetts cannabis is fortunate to have the OG of all OGs among us in Greg “Chemdog” Krzanowski. Yes, that Chemdog, the original, a cultivator so iconic that countless people who don’t even smoke weed know his name.

But like so many legends, that of Chemdog has been twisted and morphed through the years. As has the name, which is often misspelled “dawg,” not to mention the actual cuts which have been crossed and impersonated to the point of unrecognizability.

With that said, Krzanowski’s team at Canna Provisions, which is the home of his Smash Hits Cannabis line, has worked hard these past few years to set the record straight. That has involved getting the man himself talking about his own story, which is a critical chunk of the bedrock under modern cannabis.

This interview at the recent Flower Expo in Northampton between Canna Provisions media specialist Dan McCarthy and Krzanowski is one for the books, covering the culture—namely, the parking lots at Grateful Dead shows more than 30 years ago—and the cultivars at the center of the whole phenomenon.
