In a rare hometown pop-up performance, the Boston rap icons rocked three decades worth of classic cuts at Cheeky Monkey
Prior to their New England Cannabis Convention afterparty on Lansdowne Street, we asked the organizers behind Friday’s Baked! event—who also happen to be the crew responsible for Terp Basel—why they decided to bring Hub greats 7L and Esoteric of Czarface.
“We’re also huge Czarface fans over here,” they said. “[We’re] major hip-hop fans in general. And it just so happens that we have a relationship with someone on their team. So, when we decided to throw Fenway Spark as an unofficial NECANN afterparty, we wanted to pick an authentic hip-hop artist to bring in that we all loved. And being that 7L & Eso are from Mass, we thought it would be the perfect fit.”
Also as promised: their “LED-lit-up exclusive puff bus with couches that hold up to 30 [took] people around the Fenway area for 10 to 15 minutes, and continue[d] that pattern throughout the night.” It was an all-out romper, down to Esoteric bringing out Boston rap legend Jawn P of Top Choice Clique to perform “Peace of Mind.” Check out the pics below from ace photog Derek Kouyoumjian. –Chris Faraone
