Small Batch, Big State, Great Concentrates: Cold Room Drip Makes Its Mark In Maine

‘Our driving force is to create products that we are as proud to produce as you are to consume’

In the ever-evolving Maine concentrate scene, few names stand out quite like Cold Room Drip. Known for precision, passion, and commitment to the craft, this team has carved out a reputation for producing some of the cleanest, most flavorful extracts in New England.

From meticulous washing techniques, to community involvement and a dedication to preserving each strain’s unique terpene profile, this operation takes the art of hashmaking seriously. I spoke with the crewmembers to learn more about their process, inspirations, and what makes Maine’s market so special.

When did you first get into making concentrates, and what inspired you to take it from a passion to a brand?

I initially began like many others in the early days, using a can of butane and a glass tube purchased from a local smoke shop. This initial curiosity eventually evolved into a more serious pursuit. After joining Philly NORML, I made the decision to move to Denver to further develop my passion for concentrate production. It was in Denver that the concept for Cold Room Drip truly took shape and came to fruition.

What techniques and products does Cold Room Drip focus on within Maine’s evolving cannabis market?

We are a small-batch, single-source brand, with our primary focus being on delivering exceptional quality. Our philosophy is rooted in ensuring that every product not only provides a desirable high but also excels in flavor and meets all our rigorous standards. If it doesn’t meet these criteria, it simply doesn’t make it to market.

Can you walk us through what sets your process or philosophy apart from other hashmakers?

Our core philosophy is centered on an endless drive for the highest quality standards. We firmly believe that this dedication is what truly distinguishes us in the market. We adhere to strict practices …

We do not grow outdoors. This allows us precise control over environmental factors, ensuring optimal conditions for our plants and the consistent quality of our starting material.

No cut corners. We are absolutely committed to avoiding shortcuts in any part of our process. We understand that producing the best product sometimes means not maximizing profit margins, and we are willing to make that trade-off.

We are proactive in acquiring the best genetics available. This includes purchasing specific cuts that meet our stringent criteria, even when other producers might not. We also invest in rare and expensive beans to cultivate unique and superior strains. Our goal is to ensure that the products you enjoy are crafted from the finest possible ingredients. Ultimately, our driving force is to create products that we are as proud to produce as you are to consume.

Do you have any favorite washers or cultivators you work with who consistently deliver standout terpene profiles or resin production?

We are very open and would love to work with other operations, but we feel as though we have experienced some discrimination and isolation within the state of Maine. Consequently, we have largely kept to ourselves and focused on our own projects.

Maine has become known for its quality hash scene. How do you feel Cold Room Drip fits into that culture, and what makes your work unique?

As small-batch connoisseurs and cultivators, we fit right in with all the other mom-and-pop, family-owned businesses that are just trying to make it in the industry. We align more with that side of the culture rather than the investor-driven side.

What truly makes our product unique is the simple fact that we are running strains that don’t produce for the sake of terps. We are also cultivating all of these indoors with the end consumer, being you and  also the brand owner, in mind.

What are some of the biggest challenges or rewards of operating in Maine’s small-batch, craft-focused cannabis community?

The greatest reward, in my opinion, is undoubtedly the wonderful atmosphere that Maine provides. The beautiful weather here is truly a blessing, and the local food scene is absolutely amazing. Above all, it’s a privilege to be able to pursue my passion in such a remarkable environment.

As a small-batch, craft-focused individual, I found it relatively easy to distinguish Cold Room Drip in the market because I was offering something unique that many others were not willing to undertake.

While I generally prefer not to dwell on the negative aspects, particularly those I’ve experienced as a minority-owned business, I can unfortunately glean some understanding of the challenges I face simply by observing current discussions on social media.

Where can people find your products on shelves when visiting the great state of Maine, and are there any upcoming drops or collaborations fans should keep an eye out for?

You can find our products at The Market 207. They have consistently been one of the most supportive brands in our community, offering top-tier products, and I genuinely consider their team to be friends.

We are currently working on releasing some exciting new products. We’re also investing in our in-house sticker printing capabilities, which we hope will significantly enhance our white-labeling services. While we don’t have any current collaborations to announce, we are always open to exploring new opportunities.

We’ve recently acquired some fantastic Pie Dough, which we anticipate will be very popular. Additionally, we’re preparing to drop some Z rosin and our unique BTZ, a special pheno I personally selected from a bag seed.
