Hosts, theme, and date announced so far for annual Boston Common event hosted by MassCann
There are a few things you can count on in Massachusetts, like that you can always find a Dunkin’ by just closing your eyes and walking two blocks in any direction.
Likewise, the weed crowd can count on the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition (MassCann) hosting the Boston Freedom Rally on Boston Common every September. It doesn’t matter how much turmoil the group is in, or even if authorities attempt to stop the rally as used to be the case annually, with the police as well as prior mayors pulling last-minute legal attacks.
No matter what, it seems, MassCann prevails. And they throw one hell of a party.
This year’s theme for the 2023 rally, which is planned for Saturday, Sept. 16, is pedagogical: “Knowledge Is Power.” Last week, organizers announced that Dorchester recording artist GHoncho will host the Education Village, which organizers are still planning speaking lineups for, while Stoner Rob and Mr. P.S.A. will hold down main stage duties. MassCann already held its contest to choose this year’s poster, and vendor applications opened up this week.
There will also be performances from DJ Slim, who is co-hosting the Education Village stage, as well as other perennial favorites. We’ll get you more info and interviews soon, but for now be sure to save the date. Between Boston Cannabis Week, the HighLifeStyle Show, and countless other cannabis community events, it’s going to be a busy fall.
