Terp Basel 2025: International Art Basel Cannabis Spinoff Now Its Own Spectacle

A dispatch from the skatepark where cannabis culture mongers popped up during Miami’s biggest annual creative party week

Terp Basel 2025 delivered its biggest and boldest year yet, transforming Skatebird Miami into a global cultural crossroads where cannabis, art, music, and underground lifestyle collided in true South Florida fashion. What began as a niche community gathering has evolved into one of the most anticipated alternative events of Art Basel week. It’s an international celebration in its own right that stands shoulder to shoulder with the world renowned creative festival that inspired this infused spinoff, and it continues to carve out its own identity.

Terp Basel 2025 attracted an impressive presence from 15 countries, each offering different flavors, styles, and innovations. Attendees represented Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Canada, and spots across the US, turning Skatebird into a global marketplace of ideas, products, and cultures. The energy felt borderless, an immersive reminder that cannabis, street art, and creative expression are universal intersecting languages.

Throughout the venue, dozens of vendors from around the world showcased their work, from artisan hashmakers and glassblowers to fashion designers, streetwear brands, wellness companies, and creators pushing the boundaries of cannabis-adjacent innovation. Terp Basel has never been just a marketplace, it’s a living ecosystem and 2025 proved that the community’s entrepreneurial spirit is thriving.

One of the standout elements was the fashion show, which brought together eclectic designers who blended skate aesthetics, Miami street culture, and visionary art influences. Models strutted on a custom runway framed by ramps and graf, making for a wild mix of energetic visuals that perfectly encapsulated the Terp Basel vibe.

Adding even more personality to the weekend were comedy roast battles, which packed the crowd in tight as comics and creators threw friendly fire at each other in a way that only this demo could fully appreciate. The laughter, the jabs, the gritty authenticity—it all felt like a family reunion.

Of course, no Terp Basel would be complete without live art and murals, and 2025 had some of the most impressive pieces yet. I especially enjoyed the artwork of Vincent Gordon, R2Romero, and many more. People painted all throughout the day and night, bringing vibrant color to every corner of Skatebird. The sound of coughs and dab torches was constant, and by the end of the weekend, the park looked completely transformed into an evolving party and gallery of street expression that reflected the pulse of Miami’s underground.

Another new and unexpected addition to this year’s festivities was the USA Squash Off Cup, which hosted a live competition right in the half pipe on site. All while, musically, Terp Basel 2025 broke new ground with performances from legendary turntablists Qbert and DJ Whoo Kid. Their sets turned the venue into a full-blown block party. Whether attendees were digging through vendor tables, skating the ramps, admiring murals, or just soaking in the heat, the music helped tie their afternoons and evenings together.

As Art Basel keeps expanding, it’s events like Terp Basel that remind the city and the world that local culture, community-driven creativity, and underground innovation can share the spotlight with globally known artists. This year’s activation didn’t just ride a wave, but rather it truly helped redefine what Miami’s biggest art week can look like.

Somewhere between the chaos and the creativity, I made time for a personal highlight: getting a flash tattoo of a pizza slice. In true Terp Basel fashion, it was spontaneous, weird, and a perfect little souvenir, permanently inked to remember a weekend I’ll never forget.
