A Connecticut creamsicle now in Mass cannabis stores, plus stinky, terpy Sweet Island Skunk and Rainbow Runtz vapes
It’s not every day you get to meet the person for whom a cannabis brand is named, but we were fortunate to more or less have that happen last year when we ran into Andy Werner in Greenfield. His surname is a letter off from the logo on the Warner’s Best boxes, but it’s close enough to explain why the guy is so deeply passionate about his honey.
It was a small event and we were able to get in some real time with the vape maker, who we gathered right away takes his distillate seriously. That is to say Warner’s Best is not simply cranking out 110 carts like Spaceley Sprockets; rather, they’re experimenting and perfecting products with precision, and with significant results from the aroma profile to effects.
We started off with the Orange Creamsicle vape, inhaling giant clouds with a high-powered handle that enabled us to fill our lungs and then some. A sativa loaded with a blend comprising more than 35% CBG and CBD to meet up with just 45% THC, this one is a great example of how entourage effects can come much harder than a good ol’ fashion weed high. The terpene bibliography is thorough too, leading with Limonene and Linalool and finishing with a cascade featuring common faves like Myrcene and less popular perks too.
Next up we ripped the Sweet Island Skunk, a whopper close to 90% TAC built mostly on THC with help from hot ticket cannabinoid CBG. We’re not sure if the latter really is the miracle catchall it is so often touted as, impossibly assisting with energy as well as relaxation, but it’s definitely capable of kicking in for interesting ancillary effects. This one spun us pleasantly sideways in a way that even stronger strains don’t always do, head, body, soul, and all.
One of us was especially fond of the Rainbow Runtz cart, which screams of apples and grapes with a sweet almost baked goods-like aftertaste. Importantly, it doesn’t taste “fake,” and there’s no chemical kick like with some budget vapes. On top of the flavor, there was some immediate dome change, very neck down with a slight headband effect. Pack one in your adult lunchbox.
It’s no wonder these experiments are working. Warner’s Best is fairly new in Mass adult-use dispensaries, but the company has a significant presence in the CBD market online and next door in Connecticut. It’s not the flashiest 510 cart on the market, but it’s a definite sleeper that’s worth the attention of top-shelf distillate shoppers.
