Travel Dispatch: Good Times And Great Globules At Goblets Of Fire Connecticut

This year’s Goblets of Fire Connecticut, masterfully hosted by Drip Haus Gallery, delivered an unforgettable fusion of world-class hash, premium flower, legendary New Haven pizza, and a creative atmosphere that captured the true spirit of modern cannabis culture. With eight hash entries, 20-plus flower entries, and a panel of 30 seasoned judges, the event met the standard for community-driven competition rooted in quality, craft, and culture.

From the moment guests stepped into Drip Haus, the energy was undeniable. The space was transformed into a psychedelic gallery setting with immersive colors, hand-blown functional art, detailed installations, and the unmistakable aroma of terpenes in the air. The artwork played a huge role in the event’s ambiance, with glass pieces glowing like relics from another dimension, each one reflecting the talent of the artists and the creativity the event celebrates. Between the curated lighting, custom visuals, and the gallery’s signature aesthetic, the vibes were elevated yet intimate, artistic but still focused on the plant.

The competition itself was stacked too. The flower category featured nearly two-dozen cultivars, ranging from terp-heavy exotics to classic profiles done exceptionally well. Judges were impressed by the consistency and cure across entries, especially considering how competitive the northeast market has become. Notes of gas, candy, funk, fruit, and earthy spice filled the room as each judge took their time scoring structure, aroma, flavor, and ash quality.

But the true crown jewel this year was the live rosin category. With eight entries, the quality was exceptional across the board. Each jar showed off the best of modern solventless extraction: clean, golden-white rosin with impeccable melt, bold terps, and dialed-in consistencies ranging from wet badder to cold-cure perfection. Judges praised how refined and elevated the submissions were, highlighting how Connecticut and the northeast are rapidly growing into a serious hub for hash artistry. The terp profiles told their own stories: loud GMO funk, sweet candy gas, bright berries and citrus, and heavy kush, every dab was a reminder that solventless is a craft mastered only by the truly dedicated.

Adding a unique and delicious twist to the evening was the blind Pizza Judging Competition, featuring New Haven’s holy trinity: Sally’s, Pepe’s, and Modern Apizza. All three contenders showed up with their A-game, giving judges a tough call, but ultimately Modern Apizza took the win, earning bragging rights for the night and proving once again why it holds legendary status in the pizza world. This was special for me as it was my first time trying Apizza.

Between dabs, slices of pizza, glass art, and the shared love of cannabis, Goblets of Fire delivered more than just a competition; it created a cultural moment. The event honored both tradition and innovation, celebrating the growers, hashmakers, artists, and enthusiasts who push the community forward.

Drip Haus Gallery once again proved why their events stand out: intention, passion, top-tier quality, and a commitment to bringing people together around the plant. Goblets of Fire Connecticut wasn’t just an event, it was an experience.
